K9 NOSE WORK CLASSES

 

INTRODUCTION TO K9 NOSE WORK

Class has already started.

Started:  Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

Time:  7:45pm to 9:15pm

Duration: 1.5 hrs each week (6 weeks)

Cost:  $150 / dog (discount for 2nd dog)

Where:  516 N. Link Lane, Fort Collins

Starts:  Sunday, November 10,  2019

Time:  4:00pm to 5:30pm

Duration: 1.5 hrs each week (6 weeks)

Cost:  $150 / dog (discount for 2nd dog)

Where:  Team Spirit Agility, Arvada

Over this first 6 week class, we will introduce your dog to the art of hunting, boxes and the “primary reward”.  Primary reward gives your dog the opportunity to find food without handler involvement and will build canine confidence.

Objectives:

  • Build your dog’s drive to hunt

  • Build your dog’s independence and confidence

  • Teach your dog the importance of boxes and containers

  • Build the handlers observation skills:  recognize when your dog is hunting

INTRODUCTION TO VEHICLES AND EXTERIORS

Fort Collins

Starts:  Sunday, January 5, 2020

Time:  1:00pm to 2:30pm

Duration:  1.5 hrs (6 weeks)

Cost:  $150 / dog

Where:  516 N. Link Lane, Fort Collins (may vary based on search)

6 weeks in duration.  This class will build on fundamentals taught during the Introduction to Nose Work.  We will be introducing the search of vehicles and exterior areas.  Class is taught on primary (food); not odor.

Prerequisite:  Completion of Introduction to Nose Work

Location will vary based on what is being taught.

Prerequisite:  Attended Introduction to Nose Work

INTRODUCTION TO ODOR

Starts:  Thursday, March 5, 2020

Time:  7:45pm to 9:15pm

Duration:  1.5 hrs (6 weeks)

Cost:  $150 / dog

Where:  516 N. Link Lane, Fort Collins

This class is a continuation of our Introduction to Nose Work.  Canines and handlers should have successfully completed Introduction to Nose Work and Introduction to Vehicles / Exteriors.

In this class, we will introduce the odors that are used in competition - Birch, Anise and Clove (NACSW) - in all search elements.  We will continue to build search and handling skills as we build the importance to odor.

Prerequisite:  Introduction to Nose Work and Introduction to Vehicles and Exteriors

NOSE WORK DROP IN PRACTICE

Starting:  July 5, 2019

When:  Thursdays at 6pm or Fridays at 9am

Where:  Location will vary

Cost:  $20 / drop in / dog (5 Drop Ins card punch for $90)

I will be offering drop in Nose Work classes for canines that are currently on odor.  We will vary searches and areas based on weather and experience.
